She joins other women of Historical Significance in the County

ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 26, 2018—Montgomery County Councilmember Nancy Floreen will be inducted into the Montgomery County Commission for Women’s Hall of Fame at the 2018 Women’s Legislative Briefing Sunday, January 28 at 5:15 p.m. The event will be held at the Universities of Shady Grove, Building II, which is located at 9630 Gudelsky Drive in Rockville.

The Commission for Women’s Hall of Fame was created in 2002 to commemorate the Commission’s 30th anniversary by recognizing the contributions of 30 women of historical significance to the County. This year’s inductees include Councilmember Nancy Floreen, Delegate Sheila Hixson, and another woman who will named at the event.

Councilmember Floreen is in her fourth term as an at-large County Councilmember. She chairs the Council’s Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee and serves on the Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee.

“I have always supported the Commission for Women’s efforts and applaud their dedication for advancing women’s rights in Montgomery County,” said Councilmember Floreen. “I am honored to be among the list of prominent women whose lifelong commitment and service have provided a positive impact for all women.”

The Montgomery County Commission for Women is a 15-member advisory board created by County law in 1972 and charged with the responsibility of advising the County Executive, County Council, the public and the agencies of the county, state and federal government on the issues of concern to women.
