County’s capital budget remains focus of Committees on March 1
Capital budget review for Department of Health and Human Services will focus on projects related to child care, school based health centers and Linkages to Learning Centers


ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 28, 2018—On March 1 Council Committees will continue working on the County’s capital budget. The Council held three public hearings on the capital budget, during which it has heard from 73 residents. The Council will take all testimony, emails and letters into consideration as they make decisions on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Capital Budget and the FY19-24 Capital Improvements Program (CIP).

The County Executive’s recommended six-year CIP totals $4.521 billion.

At 10 a.m. the Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment (T&E) Committee will meet to discuss capital budget projects for solid waste management and storm drains. The meeting will take place in the Third Floor Council Hearing Room. The T&E Committee is chaired by Councilmember Roger Berliner and includes Councilmembers Nancy Floreen and Tom Hucker.

At 2 p.m. the Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee and the Education (ED) Committee will meet jointly to discuss capital budget projects for the Department of Health and Human Services, which will focus on projects related to child care in schools, child care renovations, high school wellness centers, school based health centers and Linkages to Learning Centers. The meeting will take place in the Third Floor Council Hearing Room. The HHS Committee is chaired by Councilmember George Leventhal and includes Councilmembers Roger Berliner and Craig Rice. The ED Committee is chaired by Councilmember Craig Rice and includes Council Vice President Nancy Navarro and Councilmember Marc Elrich.

The Committee meetings will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM).
