County Executive Ike Leggett invites residents to a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, April 2 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the grand reopening of the newly refreshed Montgomery County Public Libraries’ White Oak Branch located at 11701 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring.
The refresh for the library includes new ergonomic sit-stand circulation, information, and self-checkout desks; renovation of the public restrooms; new painting and flooring; replacement of ceiling tiles; rearrangement of shelving and seating within the library; two new collaboration spaces; upgraded lighting with improved energy efficient and brighter LED lamps; outside enhancements which include book drops, bike racks, sidewalk and parking lot improvements; new furniture; new staircase railing to the lower level area; dual drinking fountain with bottle filling station; and motorized window shades.
The Friends of the Library, White Oak chapter will serve refreshments immediately following the ceremony.
Partial funding for the project was provided by the County Library Capital Grant Program, Maryland State Library, as authorized by the Maryland General Assembly and supported by the Montgomery County Delegation.
