Councilmembers Tom Hucker and George Leventhal hold press conference on zoning change for community solar projects

WHO: Councilmembers Tom Hucker, who serves as Lead for the Environment on the Council’s Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee and as a member of the Public Safety Committee, and George Leventhal, Chair of the Council’s Health and Human Services Committee and member of the Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee; representatives from environmental and clean energy groups, business organizations and the scientific community, including Solar United Neighbors, Sierra Club and Union of Concerned Scientists.
TOPIC: The Council is considering a zoning text amendment that would allow the installation of community solar projects under recent regulations issued by the Maryland Public Service Commission. The measure is designed to help residents, who for one reason or another can’t have solar panels on their roofs, use solar power.
