Leggett Announces Launch of the Interfaith Network of Montgomery County

For Immediate Release: Monday, April 9, 2018

County Executive Ike Leggett today announced the official launch of the Interfaith Network of Montgomery County (INMC) at the Silver Spring Civic Building addressing its value in creating a welcoming, resilient and inclusive county. The Interfaith Network of Montgomery County is a public-private partnership between the Montgomery County Faith Community Advisory Council (FCAC) and Interfaith Works (IW).

County Executive Ike Leggett was joined by Councilmembers Nancy Floreen and Roger Berliner, and members of the community.

“I am proud of the great work our Faith Community Advisory Group and Interfaith Works have done in the past,” said County Executive Ike Leggett. “This joint effort can only strengthen our aim to bring people of all faiths together to build an even better County.”

The launching event included a resource fair assembled for faith communities to empower programs including security, social justice, religious land use and religious education and there was a video presentation celebrating ways faith communities are crossing lines of difference to experience the power of inclusion overcoming division.

The INMC will combine the resources of County Executive’s Faith Community Counsel with Interfaith Works and bring hundreds of faith communities together in creating a compassionate, just and thereby peaceful community,” said Office of Community Partnerships Interfaith Liaison Rev. Mansfield "Kasey” Kaseman.

The FCAC was created to respond to the needs and concerns of faith communities, working collaboratively with government, non-profits and community organizations on an interfaith basis. Interfaith Works was founded in 1972 by a group of faith leaders united in their commitment to combat poverty and homelessness in Montgomery County.
