Early Childhood Services Sponsors May 19 Champions for Children; Public and Early Childhood Educators Invited to Learn About Resources For Young Children

Paents, caregivers of children and early childhood educators are invited to a free Champions for Children event on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Universities at Shady Grove, Building II in Rockville.  Attendees can receive free screening for developmental delays; attend parenting workshops and get information about resources available in the community for young children.  Early childhood educators can earn Professional Activity Units for attending workshops on topics such as Make and Take activities and Communicating Challenging News to Parents.  Grammy-winning artist 123 Andrés will provide free family entertainment.  In addition, there will be free face painting, balloon making and other giveaways.

The event is sponsored by Early Childhood Services, part of the County’s Department of Health and Human Services.

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is located at 9630 Gudelsky Drive in Rockville.  Parking is free for those attending the event.  A free shuttle service leaving Shady Grove Metro East at 10 a.m. and leaving USG at 12:45 p.m., is also available.
