Montgomery County Recreation Announces MoCo’s Got Talent Winners

Montgomery County Recreation has announced the winners of its annual MoCo’s Got Talent, a countywide talent competition for county middle and high school students to showcase their talents in the visual and performing arts.

Over 120 students participated in this year’s competition, which began with auditions in March. Winners were announced at the finale showcase on Sunday, May 20 at the Fillmore Silver Spring.

The 2018 winners are:

• Vocalist Winner, Kelvin Dukes of Banneker Middle School
• Musician Winner, Justin Wang of Robert Frost Middle School
• Dance Winner, The Paint Branch Eclectic Steppers
• Visual Arts Winner — Middle School, Larisa Kachko of Rosa Parks Middle School
• Visual Arts Winner — High School, Ana Gutierrez of Winston Churchill High School

Winners were awarded prize packages, including gift certificates for supplies, lessons and coaching and invitations to participate at the Silver Spring Summer Concert Series, the Thanksgiving Parade and the Wheaton Arts Parade and Festival.

MoCo's Got Talent serves as a platform for creative expression, inspiring young people to share their passion and reach high. The competition aims to promote the importance of the arts in the lives of youth with the hope of keeping the arts thriving across Montgomery County.
