ROCKVILLE, Md., June 22, 2018—Councilmember Craig Rice is the featured guest on today’s episode of “En Sintonia con el Concejo del Condado” (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), airing at 2:30 p.m. on Radio America (WACA 1540AM). Councilmember Rice represents District 2 is Upcounty and includes North Potomac, Montgomery Village, Germantown, Damascus, and Clarksburg, among others. He is the chair of the Education Committee and a member of the Health and Human Services Committee. Councilmember Rice will discuss several topics including school security, his mandatory carbon monoxide detector bill that was introduced last Tuesday, radon awareness, and his “Councilmember for a Day” challenge for Montgomery County students.

In the second half of the program, Melisa Rivera, spokesperson for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), will join the program to talk about MCPS’ summer meals program for students from low-income families.

Finally, Gilberto Zelaya, elections outreach and early voting coordinator for the Montgomery County Board of Elections, will call in to remind residents to vote in the primary election. The early voting period for the primary election has ended and regular voting will take place on Tuesday, June 26.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
