Montgomery County DLC Partners to Raise Funds for Local Military Foundation

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, July 31, 2018

The Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) and its partners, Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Breakthru Beverage Group, have raised $6,000 to support the Fisher House Foundation, a not-for-profit focused on bringing family members to the bedside of injured service members.

During the month of June, for every bottle of Tito’s vodka sold at Montgomery County retail stores, $1 was donated to the Fisher House Foundation, Inc., with a limit of up to $5,000.  Based on strong sales and support from the community, the $5,000 donation level was reached. In addition, 25 local restaurants joined the campaign and featured Tito’s drink menus in their establishments for the month. These Montgomery County restaurants raised another $1,000, resulting in a $6,000 donation for the Fisher houses located at the at Naval Support Activity Bethesda (NSAB).

“On behalf of the DLC, we are incredibly pleased to be able to show our support for local veterans in this way,” said Robert Dorfman, director of the DLC.” It’s important to give back to our nation’s heroes, and their families, who have sacrificed so much.”

“It’s a cause that everyone can get behind,” said Joe Giardina, division manager of Montgomery County for Breakthru Beverage Group.

Since its inception in 1990, the Fisher House Foundation has served more than 335,000 military families, saving them an estimated $407 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation, according to its website. Locally, there are now five Fisher Houses located at NSAB.
