MDOT SHA Plans Major Weekend, High Impact, Utility and Other Projects in Montgomery County

The following State Highway Administration (SHA) weekend projects will impact Montgomery County:

 

• Inner loop I-495 (Capital Beltway) at MD 185 (Connecticut Avenue) – Bridge joint repairs – Single, double and triple lane closures Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 9:00 p.m. until 5 a.m. through the end of August.

• Eastbound Montrose Road ramp to northbound I-270 – Interchange ramp resurfacing – Ramp closure and detour Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. 

• US 29 (Colesville Road) between I-495 (Capital Beltway) and MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) - WSSC water line replacement project - Single and double lane closures Mondays through Fridays between 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sundays through Friday mornings between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Single lane closures Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

 

SHA also is planning the following lane closures in Montgomery County during August 10 through August 17, weather permitting:

 

• MD 28 (Norbeck Road) at Bradford Road. Private/commercial water utility project. Intermittent single and double eastbound and westbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late summer 2018.

• MD 28 (Key West Avenue) at Research Boulevard and Siesta Key Way.  Mill and overlay work through late summer 2018. Southbound double lane closures, overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.   

• US 29 (Colesville Road) from Spring Street to Fenton Street. Private/commercial electricity excavation/infrastructure work. Intermittent single and double northbound lane closures, Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., through late fall 2018.

• US 29 (Colesville Road) from Georgia Avenue to I-495 (Capital Beltway) ramps. Private/commercial waterline installation. Intermittent single and double lane closures, overnight, Saturday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through late summer 2019.

• US 29 (Colesville Road) from Georgia Avenue to Capital Beltway.  Water main installation through late summer 2018.  Northbound and southbound double lane closure Sunday through Thursday 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) from White Oak Drive to Flora Lane.  Maintenance repairs through late summer 2018.  Northbound double lane closures, overnight, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• MD 109 (Beallsville Road) at Fisher Avenue.  Waterline Repair through late summer.  Southbound double lane closures, overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• MD 187 (Old Georgetown Road) from Battery Lane to Maple Ridge Road. Private/commercial water utility work. Intermittent single and double northbound and southbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late summer 2018.   

• MD 187 (Old Georgetown Road) from Lincoln Drive to McKinley Street. Suburban Hospital private/commercial construction activity. Intermittent single lane closures weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., overnight and intermittent double lane closures, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and weekends, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through year-end 2019.

• MD 193 (University Boulevard) from MD 212 (Riggs Road) to MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue). Purple line-related roadway activity. Intermittent left and right eastbound and westbound single lane closures, weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends, 7 p.m. Friday through       7 p.m. Sunday through year-end 2018.

• MD 193 from East Indian Spring Drive to East Franklin Avenue. Private commercial utility-related paving. Single and double eastbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Friday, 9 p.m. to       5 a.m. through late summer 2018.

• Knowles Avenue and Connecticut Avenue.  Montgomery County sidewalk replacement through late summer 2018.  Crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  MCDOT info about the project can be found here.

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) from Battery Lane to Fairmont Avenue. Private/commercial water utility work. Intermittent single and double northbound and southbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late summer 2018.

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue/Norfolk Avenue) from Cheltenham Drive to Middleton Lane.  Demolition work through late fall 2018.  Southbound daytime and nighttime curb lane closures Monday through Friday. 

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) from Waverly Street to Willow Lane (at 7272 Wisconsin Avenue). Private /commercial demolition/construction project. Off-peak southbound lane closures, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. with full sidewalk closures, through late summer, 2018.

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) at Hungerford Drive from Ivy League Lane to Frederick Avenue. Private/commercial manhole work. Single southbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late summer 2018.

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) from Montgomery Street to South Park Avenue. Private/commercial sidewalk closure for sidewalk repairs through Fall 2018.

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) from Bradley Boulevard to Sandford Street.  Watermain repair through fall 2018.  Double southbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) at Rosemont Drive.  Waterline replacement through late summer 2018.  Double southbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) from MD 121(Clarksburg Road) to Snowden Farm Parkway.  Soil Borings through late summer.  Southbound single lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) from MD 121 (Clarksburg Road) to Stringtown Road. Soil Borings through late summer.  Southbound single lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• MD 355 (Rockville Pike) from Edmonston Drive to Talbot Street.  Aerial Crossing work through late fall 2018.  Full northbound and southbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.  

• MD 355 (Frederick Road) at Brink Road. Private/commercial intersection reconstruction project. Intermittent single lane closures on both roads with a flagging operation, weekdays, Monday through Friday, 9 p.m. to 3 p.m. through late fall 2019.

• MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) at Sherbrook Drive between Jackson Road and Tanley Road.  Washington Gas utilities upgrades through late summer 2018. Single lane daytime closures in both directions.  Occasional 24-hour work. 

• 7272 Wisconsin Avenue. West sidewalk on Wisconsin Avenue between Elm Street and 7220 Wisconsin Avenue will be closed.  Right lane of southbound Wisconsin Avenue between Elm Street and Bethesda Avenue will be closed for construction access and staging. Private/commercial sidewalk closure and single lane closure for Apex Building construction through late August 2018. • MD 355 (South Frederick Avenue) at East Deer Park Drive. Private/commercial water line work. Single and double northbound and southbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late summer 2018.

• MD 586 (Veirs Mill Road) at MD 193 (University Boulevard). Private commercial water line work. Single and double eastbound and westbound lane closures, overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m.  to 5 a.m. through late summer 2018.

• MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) from Ray Road to Sheridan Street. Private/commercial electrical work. Intermittent single and double lane closures, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through late summer 2018.

• MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) from Erskine Street to Kingwood Drive.  Gas main installation through late summer 2018.  Northbound single lane closures, overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. 

• Bonifant Street from Dixon Avenue to Georgia Avenue. Long-term private/commercial construction project. Intermittent single lane closures with sidewalk closures, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through late spring 2019.
