Montgomery County has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Award for Outstanding Achievement for its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).
In order to be eligible for the PAFR award, a government must also submit its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) to GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAEFR) program and receive the CAEFR award for the current fiscal year.
“We have received the CAEFR 48 times, that’s more than any other County in the nation,” said Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett. “When it comes to financial reporting, we are committed to excellence and transparency and these awards recognize that commitment.”
According to the GFOA, judges evaluate each eligible report on a variety of categories, including: reader appeal, understandability, distribution methods, creativity and other elements.
“This report represents the County’s continuing commitment to financial transparency to its citizens,” said Finance Director Alex Espinosa. “It is a companion document to the County’s award-winning Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and is designed to present information about the County’s finances and financial results in a more user-friendly format.”
