MCDOT to Join County Executive at Opening of Pepco Trail

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, October 3, 2018

On October 5, County Executive Ike Leggett will speak at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new six-mile, natural surface, multi-use trail that connects Muddy Branch Stream Valley to South Germantown Recreational Park. Supported through the Pepco Exelon merger, the trail is owned by Pepco Exelon, was constructed and will be patrolled by Montgomery Parks, and maintained by the Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiast.

MCDOT helped to ensure the new trail meshes with the County’s overall trail and road networks. MCDOT’s team, in collaboration with Montgomery Parks, worked with Pepco to plan and construct the trail, completed safety improvements at all County Road trail crossings, and constructed the improvements on State roads on behalf of the Maryland Department of Transportation.
