ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 26, 2019—Craig Rice, chair of the Montgomery County Council’s Education and Culture Committee; Dr. Jack Smith, superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS); and Dr. DeRionne Pollard, president of Montgomery College, will host the first in a series of five public education budget forums at Col. E. Brooke Lee Middle School (11800 Monticello Ave in Silver Spring) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The Feb. 20 forum at Neelsville Middle School in Germantown, which was canceled due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled to Apr. 4.

This is the fifth year that these county education leaders are hosting a countywide tour to talk about the education budget process and the priorities for Montgomery County residents. These annual forums present residents an opportunity to learn about and provide input regarding our county’s public-school system and our community college.

“These forums will provide an opportunity for residents to have their questions answered about the education budgets at both the State and County level from kindergarten to higher education,” said Councilmember Rice. “We will discuss opportunities all residents have to help influence and shape budget decisions that will be made as the Council works to adopt the FY20 budget.”

Forums will be held on:

  • Feb. 27:  Col. E. Brooke Lee Middle School - Silver Spring, 6:30 p.m.
  • Mar. 6:   Rockville High School - Rockville, 6:30 p.m.
  • Mar. 11:  Bethesda Chevy Chase High School - Bethesda, 6:30 p.m.
  • Mar. 27:  Montgomery College – Takoma Park Campus (Cultural Arts Center Theater 1), 6:30 p.m.
