Registration Now Open for 2019 Montgomery County Energy Summit

For Immediate Release: Friday, March 1, 2019

The sixth annual Montgomery County Energy Summit, which focuses on promoting commercial energy efficiency and the use of clean energy in the County and the Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at the Silver Spring Civic Building.  The summit will be co-hosted by Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the US Green Building Council National Capital Region (USGBC NCR).

The Silver Spring Civic Building is located at 1 Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring. It is accessible from the Metro Red Line at the Silver Spring station.

Registration for the 2019 Energy Summit is now open. Tickets are $45 for early-bird purchases and include a full day of educational sessions and an exhibitor hall. Also included are breakfast, lunch and access to a post-Summit reception and networking event. Early-bird pricing for tickets ends Wednesday, March 6. The regular ticket price of $65 is available starting March 7.

The theme of this year’s Energy Summit is "Focus on the Here & Now," highlighting how existing building owners can improve the performance of their commercial buildings to reduce energy use and help the County achieve carbon neutrality by 2035. The Energy Summit includes in-depth workshops on innovative energy projects, building commissioning approaches, renewable energy technologies, sustainable building strategies and County and other regional commercial energy efficiency programs.

The Energy Summit will offer much for building owners, property managers, energy contractors working in the County, young professionals in the energy field or anyone interested in sustainable commercial buildings.

Following the Energy Summit, United Therapeutics will host a post-event networking reception from 4-7 p.m. at the Unisphere, its newest net-zero energy building. The Unisphere is located nearby the civic building at 1000 Spring Street in Silver Spring. This reception is included with registration to the Energy Summit, but tickets to the reception also can be purchased separately.

To register and for additional information, visit the event’s website at www.MCEnergySummit.org. Questions may be emailed to energy@montgomerycountymd.gov.
