International cuisine from more than 30 restaurants will take the spotlight at the 9th Annual Taste the World in Fenton Village. The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19. The festival is located several blocks south of downtown Silver Spring between Wayne, Georgia and Sligo avenues and Fenton Street.
Taste the World in Fenton Village is the largest restaurant crawl in the D.C. area. The event features local restaurants representing dozens of countries from five different continents. The makes it possible for attendees to enjoy authentic international cuisine, while supporting locally-owned, small businesses and exploring the Fenton Village neighborhood in Silver Spring.
“I hope everyone will come to this wonderful event coordinated by hard-working community members who work hard to make this event happen,” said Reemberto Rodriguez director of the Silver Spring Regional Services Center. “There is something for everyone and all are welcomed to enjoy this not-so-hidden gem of Silver Spring.”
Restaurants will offer special appetizers and small tasting plates at $3 to $5 apiece. The festival includes performances, entertainment and activities for the entire family.
“Taste of Fenton Village is a grassroots effort to promote the 200 small businesses in Fenton Village, including more than 30 authentic restaurants, said Karen Roper, event co-founder. “I invite everyone to join us for the event to find out why we think Fenton Village is so special.”
The event will be held rain or shine.
The Silver Spring Transit Center is a 15-minute walk from the Fenton Street stage area. Parking is available at nearby garages and County-owned parking facilities.
