Silver Spring Thursday Night Concerts Return to Veterans Plaza, June 20 – Aug. 8

Downtown Silver Spring will be hopping again this summer when the Silver Spring’s Thursday Night Concerts returns. The concert series returns with a full line-up, featuring touring artists and local favorites. From Motown to rock to Oldies, the popular summer concert series has music for everyone. 

The free, outdoor concerts will be held at Veterans Plaza located at One Veterans Place. The concerts will take place a 7 p.m. on Thursday evening beginning June 20 through Aug. 8. There will not be a concert on Thursday, July 4.

  • June 20 – The Back Pages Band (60s/70s Tribute) The Back Pages Band performs classic songs from the Golden Decade of Rock (1963-1973).  The audience will sing along to tunes from the Beach Boys, Bee Gees,  The Monkees, The Rolling Stones, Neil Diamond, Jimmy Buffet and more.  The five band members have played with famous DC and Baltimore bands including Butler's Orchard, Crusader Rabbit, Summer, Love Riot, The Last Picture Show, and the Kennedys.
  • June 27 – Josh Christina (Rockabilly) Baltimore based rockabilly artist, Josh Christina, is a just a good of American country boy who has spent the past 15 years honing his sound - a combination of the country, classic rock, big band, and rockabilly he was raised on.
  • July 11 – Route 66 Band (Classic Rock, Country) Route 66, also known as Club 66, plays jams that will get the audience pumped. They play everything from rock and roll, classic rock, blues, Motown, boogie-woogie, and old school country.
  • July 18- Marc Berger Band (American Roots) Marc Berger performs American roots music, a smattering of folk, country, blues, and rock ’n’ roll. He plays guitar, harmonica and sings, along with writing his own songs. Marc’s performed at Austin’s South by Southwest Music Festival and The Kerrville and Falcon Ridge Folk Festivals and has opened shows for Bob Dylan and other national acts. 
  • July 25- MoCo’s Got Talent (Variety) MoCo’s Got Talent is a Montgomery countywide talent competition for middle and high school students to showcase their artistry in the visual and performing arts. Finalists will present their winning musical performances.
  • August 1 - The HitTime Revue Featuring Jimi Smooth (R&B, Soul) Serving as the lead singer for the Jimi Smooth Band, Jimi Smooth also known as “Mr. Move & Groove” is the consummate showman. His electrifying performance is high energy and to “get up and boogie” music.
  • August 8 –The Soul Crackers (Motown Soul) The Soul Crackers take some of the greatest party music from artists like Sam and Dave, Otis Redding, Average White Band, Martha, and the Vandellas, James Brown, and Tower of Power and make it their own. Expect to dance the night away!

The concert features face painting, games for kids, and a raffle with prizes for adults as well as toys and gifts for kids.  The raffle opens at 6:30 p.m. and is awarded at intermission.
