ROCKVILLE, Md., May 17, 2019—Fabianna Herrera and David Mejía, local youth karate athletes, and Maria Fernanda Borjas, director of the Latino Student Fund, will be the featured guests on En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), today at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM).

In the first segment of the program, Fabianna Herrera and David Mejía will share their experiences having been harassed and bullied at school, and how those experiences led them to compete locally, nationally and internationally. They recently became gold and bronze medal winners, respectively, in the USA Junior International Karate Cup.

In the second segment, María Fernanda Borjas will discuss the Latino Student Fund and the opportunities it provides for Latino students to gain guidance and resources for obtaining scholarships.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.

Video links with a summary of the show are available each week at the County Council's mobile friendly web site at: www.montgomerycountymd.gov/council .
