County to Hold Lottery for Farmer’s Market Checks for Low-Income Seniors 

            Free farmer’s market “checks” worth $30 will be distributed by lottery to low-income seniors in Montgomery County on Tuesday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m.  The checks are available to Montgomery County residents age 60 years and older whose income is less than $23,107 (family of one). 

            The checks may be used at farmer’s markets in Montgomery County and participating markets in the District of Columbia until November 1, 2019.  

            The lottery for the checks will be held at the following locations:

Elizabeth House, 1400 Fenwick Lane, Silver Spring

Benjamin Gaither Senior Center, 80A Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg

Holiday Park Senior Center, 3950 Ferrara Drive, Wheaton

Long Branch Community Center, 8700 Piney Branch Road

Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive, Rockville

Waverly House, 4521 East West Highway, Bethesda

White Oak Community Center, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring

The White Oak Community Center site will host a “pop up” farmer’s market on the day of the lottery so seniors and others can shop for locally grown produce.
