Alcohol Beverage Services Partners to Help Raise $10,000 for Warrior Canine Connection

For Immediate Release: Thursday, August 1, 2019

Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS), in partnership with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, will kick off a fundraising effort today at Montgomery County ABS retail stores to raise $10,000 during the month of August for the Warrior Canine Connection (WCC) organization.

WCC is a nonprofit that is based in Boyds, Maryland. WCC enlists recovering combat veterans to train service dogs for fellow veterans who are recovering from physical and psychological wounds.

“This is a great way to support our veterans,” says Bob Dorfman, director of ABS. “With more than 45,000 veterans estimated to be living in Montgomery County, the program has a big impact locally and nationally for the brave service men and women who fought for our country.”

ABS is working to raise funds and community awareness for WCC through in-store displays and sales. Tito’s has pledged to contribute $1 per select bottles sold throughout the month of August to WCC, up to $10,000.

WCC utilizes a mission-based trauma recovery model to empower returning combat veterans who have sustained physical and psychological wounds while in service to our country. WCC’s therapeutic service dog training program is designed to mitigate symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and other challenges, while giving injured veterans a sense of purpose and help.

ABS is the wholesaler of alcohol in Montgomery County and operates 25 beer, wine and spirits stores. All profits generated from the sale of alcohol are transferred to the Montgomery County General Fund to pay for services that would otherwise be funded by County resident tax dollars.
