Expiration of driver's licenses for TPS holders and federal public charge policy for immigration are focus of “En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado,” Friday, August 23 at 2 p.m. on Radio America

ROCKVILLE, Md., August 22, 2019—Mardoel Hernandez of the National TPS Alliance and immigration attorney Silverio Coy will be the featured guests on En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), this Friday, August 23 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM). Mardoel Hernandez will discuss the expiration of drivers licenses for current holders of Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and how TPS beneficiaries can extend their driving privileges until Jan. 2020. Silverio Coy will discuss the new public charge rule, set to be implemented by the Department of Homeland Security on Oct. 15, which would make people seeking to become permanent residents of the United States inadmissible if they are likely to become primarily dependent on government services for their subsistence.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
