For Immediate Release: Thursday, September 19, 2019
After a two-week closure between its two intersections with Wildcat Road, Davis Mill Road in Germantown has partially re-opened to traffic.
MCDOT closed the road on August 28 on determining it was no longer safe for vehicular traffic due to embankment erosion. After reviewing the site and possible engineering solutions, it was determined that one lane of Davis Mill Road was sound enough to carry traffic. The Department has since coordinated the placement of two timed traffic lights at either end of the impacted stretch of Davis Mill Road which permit traffic to utilize the single open lane. The lights are timed in three-minute intervals.
This bypass will remain in effect until the road can be repaired. MCDOT continues to engineer a design solution for this stretch of Davis Mill Road.
