MCDOT to Present Revised Options on Ride On Bus Changes at March 3 Public Workshop

For Immediate Release: Monday, March 2, 2020

Based on public feedback received in January about planned modifications to Ride On bus service along and around the US 29 (Colesville Rd/ Columbia Pike) corridor, Ride On has re-evaluated the originally proposed changes and postponed any final restructuring until fall 2020. This meeting is regarding proposed changes to existing Ride On bus routes and will not focus on the new US 29 FLASH bus service.

Join the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) on March 3 to learn more about how the department listened to your comments. The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Montgomery Blair High School, located at 51 University Blvd. E., Silver Spring. In case of inclement weather, the public workshop will be rescheduled to March 10. The Montgomery Blair High School is accessible.

Ride On changes are being proposed to minimize duplication of service within the US 29 corridor and, in most cases, provide higher frequency service operating for more hours during the day.

The routes proposed for restructuring that have not been modified since the January public meeting are:

  • Route 9 - Wheaton-Four Corners-Silver Spring
  • Route 10 - Twinbrook-Glenmont-White Oak-Hillandale
  • Route 12 - Takoma-Flower Ave-Wayne Ave-Silver Spring
  • Route 13 - This route will be covered by Routes 12 & 19
  • Route 14 - Takoma-Piney Branch-Franklin Ave-Silver Spring
  • Route 129 - This route will be replaced by the FLASH
  • Route 22 - Hillandale-White Oak-FDA-Silver Spring

The following proposed route changes have been modified based on public feedback:

  • Route 8 - Wheaton-Forest Glen-Silver Spring
  • Route 19 - Northwood-Four Corners-Silver Spring
  • Route 21 - Briggs Chaney-Tamarack-Dumont Oaks-Silver Spring
