Practical information about COVID-19 pandemic is focus of “En Sintonía con el Concejo", today at 2 p.m. on Radio America

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 27, 2020—Heather Bruskin, representative of the Montgomery County Food Council (MCFC); Gilberto Zelaya, vice president of the Montgomery County Board of Elections; Melisa Rivera, spokesperson for Montgomery County Public Shools (MCPS); and Daniel Parra, director of business diversity and inclusion with the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC), will be the featured guests on En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), airing today at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM). All four guests will share useful information related to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Heather Bruskin will share information about food assistance available through MCFC, as well as supporting local food and beverage businesses during the public health emergency. Gilberto Zelaya will share information about the changes to primarily elections in Maryland, which have been postponed until June 2 due to the COVID-19 emergency. Melisa Rivera will provide an update on MCPS: currently, all schools are closed until April 24 to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and MCPS is providing grab-and-go meals for students and multiple locations. Finally, Daniel Parra will discuss a new website in Spanish where small business owners can find resources to help relieve the financial burden of the pandemic.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
