Press Releases - Department of Transportation

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, September 23, 2020

From Tuesday, September 22 to  Friday, October 9, Down Under Construction will close the northbound right lane of Rockville Pike (MD 355) between Tuckerman Lane and Strathmore Avenue (MD 547) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The adjacent sidewalk will be closed for the full three-week duration of the project. These closures are in effect to allow for the installation of an fiberoptic duct bank as part of the Dark Fiber & Infrastructure project. Signage and traffic control devices will be utilized to direct traffic around the work area.

Questions or comments regarding this work may be directed to Project Manager Ryan Kelly at 571-259-3612 or Superintendent James Momborquette at 240-625-2331.

Drivers should always stay alert and look for reduced speed limits in efforts to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for construction crews and drivers.
