The following committees will meet virtually on Monday, Nov. 9. On the guidance of Health Officer and Chief of Public Health Services Dr. Travis Gayles, there is currently no public access to the Council Office Building. The virtual Council meeting will be streamed live on the Council’s web page via YouTube (MoCoCouncilMD) and on Facebook Live (MontgomeryCountyMdCouncil) and can be watched on County Cable Montgomery on channels 30 (Fios), 1056 (RCN) and 996 (Xfinity).
Meeting: Government Operations and Fiscal Policy (GO) Committee

MC 311 Performance
The GO Committee requested an update on MC311 and the future improvements needed to strengthen the performance of the MC311 Customer Service Center. MC311 is the County's source for non-emergency government information and services. The individuals expected to attend the meeting include the following: Fariba Kassiri, deputy chief administrative officer; Barry Hudson, director, Public Information Office; Brian Roberts, acting manager, MC311; Gail Roper, director, Department of Technology Services (DTS); Shayna Taqi, DTS Change Management; and Dr. Raymond Crowel, director, Health and Human Services.

Meeting: Transportation and Environment Committee (T&E) Committee
Time: 2:30 p.m.
T&E Committee: Council Vice President Tom Hucker (Chair) and Councilmembers Evan Glass and Hans Riemer
Topic:
Bill 32-20, Solid Waste (Trash) - Waste Reduction/Source Reduction and Single-Use straws - Requirements
The T&E Committee will continue its review of Bill 32-20, which would do the following: establish a program for waste reduction and source reduction in Montgomery County; provide criteria for waste reduction initiatives and programs; set forth the method by which the program is established; prohibit the distribution of single use straws except in certain circumstances; and post information that plastic straws will no longer be provided except when necessary to accommodate a medical or disability-related need of a customer. Council President Sidney Katz is the lead sponsor of the bill, at the request of the County Executive. Adam Ortiz, director, Department of Environmental Protection and Eileen Cao, chief of Waste Reduction and Recycling, Department of Environmental Protection will participate in the meeting.
