MCDOT Announces Transportation-Related Holiday Schedule for Christmas and New Year’s Day

For Immediate Release: Thursday, December 31, 2020

MCDOT will observe the following holiday schedule for Christmas holiday, Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25 and New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1, 2021::

  • County Offices - Closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • Ride On/ Ride On extRa / Flash Service – Operates from the route endpoints until 10 p.m.; runs starting from the endpoints after 10 p.m. will not operate on Dec. 24, to allow bus drivers to have time with their families.  Operates on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 (click on a route number). View holiday brochure.
  • Ride On Flex – Not in operation due to health crisis.
  • Metrorail and Metrobus – Information available at wmata.com/service/status/details/Metro-Holiday-2020.cfm.
  • MARC Train and Commuter Bus – Information available at mta.maryland.gov/marc-holiday-service.  
  • TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center – Closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.      
  • TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store – Closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1
  • Parking at Montgomery County public garages, lots and curbside meters - Normal parking fees and regulations in effect on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. Parking will be Free on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • MCDOT Shared Street’s program – Arlington Road will be open to vehicles.
  • Montgomery Parks Open Streets - portions of Sligo Creek Parkway between Old Carroll Avenue to Piney Branch Road and Forest Glen Road to University Boulevard West and Beach Drive between Forest Glen Road to University Boulevard West will be open to pedestrians on December 23 at noon through December 27 at 4 p.m. and December 30 at noon through January 3, 2021 at 4 p.m.
