Two significant roads in Bethesda will experience traffic disruptions through April due to unrelated projects.
Starting this week, lanes will be closed on Sangamore Road from Massachusetts Avenue toward Walhonding Road by NPL and Washington Gas for replacement of a natural gas pipeline. The lanes will be closed from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The expected duration of the work will be 30 days (weather permitting).

Traffic on Montgomery Avenue in Bethesda will be disrupted evening starting Monday, March 15, for construction-related issues for the new Avocet Tower. The traffic disruptions are expected to last through late April.
R.B. Hinkle Construction, Inc., will close part of Montgomery Avenue between Wisconsin Avenue and Waverly Place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night. The construction company said there will intermittent temporary single- and multiple-lane closures and traffic control for installation of new duct banks. The ducts will be for telecom and fiber services that will cross Montgomery Avenue. Those services will be part of the Avocet Tower project being run by Balfour Beatty Construction.
Hinkle Construction said it plans to utilize one lane at a time and keep a travel lane open at all times.
Hinkle said it has outfitted its equipment with “white noise backup alarms” to reduce noise as much as possible to neighbors in the area. However, it is aware that the work will cause some noise disruptions.
