The Council of Former Federal Executives (COFFE), Little Falls Village, and Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) hosts Congressman Jamie Raskin, as he discusses “Constitutional Patriotism, Partisanship and the Future of American Democracy.” The event will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 5.
Registration is required for anyone wishing to attend.
Congressman Raskin is the U.S. Representative for Maryland’s 8th Congressional District. He is serving his third term on the Judiciary, House Oversight, and House Administration Committees and is serving his second term on the Rules Committee and the Select Subcommittee on Coronavirus Crisis.
Prior to his time in Congress, Raskin was a three-term State Senator in Maryland, where he served as the Senate Majority Whip. He earned a reputation for building coalitions in Annapolis to deliver a series of landmark legislative accomplishments, including marriage equality, abolition of the death penalty, a ban on the sale of military-style assault weapons, and a hike in the minimum wage.
Co-hosts COFFE and Little Falls Village have partnered with MCPL’s Little Falls branch to bring prominent presenters discussing current events to the Speaker Series. The Series, which is open to all in the community, has expanded and continued virtually during the pandemic with more than 2,600 attendees at these events during 2020.
