The Councilmember will be joined by Montgomery College President Dr. Pollard
Rockville, Md., May 14, 2021—On Tuesday, May 18 at 12 p.m., Councilmember Jawando will hold a press conference at Montgomery College to introduce a new community informed police training bill. He will be joined by Montgomery College President Dr. Pollard.
Councilmember Jawando, Dr. Pollard and the team at Montgomery College have worked together over the past year to develop the Community Informed Police Training Act, which would extend the time and scope of training for both prospective and current police officers with the goal to improve police-community relations. The training program would include topics such as racial equity, social justice, communication, and the history of policing.
The press conference will be located at Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus outside of the new Student Services Building.
