Montgomery County Recreation (MCR) is extending summer camp programs at six recreation centers to support families who need additional childcare options. The programs will offer core-day and extended-day options. The sessions will begin Monday, Aug. 9 and Monday, Aug 16 and will be offered at the East County, Good Hope, Mid-County, Plum Gar, Wheaton and White Oak community recreation and neighborhood recreation centers.    

The programs are positioned to serve communities with the greatest number of families eligible for RecAssist, which is MCR’s financial assistance program.  

RecAssist provides financial assistance to eligible residents to use toward most Recreation activities and memberships. County residents who currently receive public assistance from any of the following programs are eligible for RecAssist: Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA); Supplemental Security Income; Housing Assistance from a Shelter; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); Maryland Medicaid; Care for Kids; Maryland Energy Assistance; Montgomery County HHS Rental Assistance Program; and WIC.
