The Montgomery County Department of Transportation Invites the Public to a Virtual Public Hearing on the Charred Oak Community Petition for Inclusion in the Vacuum Leaf Collection Program on August, 25

For Immediate Release: Thursday, August 12, 2021

On Wednesday, August 25 starting at 2 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold its second virtual public hearing regarding a petition for inclusion into the Vacuum Leaf Collection program that was submitted by the Charred Oak Community in North Potomac.

The hearing allows Charred Oak community residents an opportunity to provide feedback to be included in the MCDOT Leaf Vacuum program.  The annual leaf vacuuming starts in November and runs through December. The collection district is bounded by I-495; I-270; the Rockville City limits; Norbeck, Bel Pre and Bonifant Roads; Northwest Branch Park; the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County lines. The leaf collection program requires eighty percent buy-in from the neighborhood applying and imposes an annual fee on resident’s tax bills.

The hearing will be broadcast online through the Zoom platform. Online registration is required to attend. Meeting instructions will be emailed to registrants on the morning of August 25.

Residents may email Steven Suprata at Steven.Suprata@montgomerycountymd.gov to obtain copies of the Charred Oak Petition files or to submit written comments, requests or questions. Written comments, requests or questions may also be submitted online. Both oral and written testimony carry the same weight and are due by September 8.

Interpreter services will be provided upon request with five (5) business days advance notice.

The hearing will be recorded and available for viewing on the Vacuum Leaf Collection Program website at montgomerycountymd.gov/leafing.
