Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center Reducing Adoption Fees for NBC/Telemundo’s Nationwide ‘Clear the Shelters’ Event

For Immediate Release: Friday, August 20, 2021

On Monday, Aug. 23, Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC), operated by the Montgomery County Office of Animal Services, will reduce adoption fees as part of its participation in NBC/Telemundo’s nationwide “Clear the Shelters” adoption event.

From Aug. 23 through Sept. 19, all adoption fees will be discounted by 50 percent. Animals who have been waiting for a home for more than 30 days will have fees completely waived. Adopters can view available animals online at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/animalservices/adoption/index.html. Animals with waived fees will be labeled as “Hidden Gems” both online and in the shelter.

Shelter populations in the summer months are always high and finding space to house animals can become extremely difficult, which is why it is more important than ever that people adopt and open their homes to animals in need.

MCASAC has 100 animals available for adoption including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and more. Additional animals will become available each week.

To help even more pets find homes, MCASAC is breaking down barriers and making it easier than ever to adopt. Requirements and details on the full adoption process can be found at Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center - Adoption (montgomerycountymd.gov). Adoptions are first-come, first-served by appointment. Potential adopters can get the process started online or can walk-in to the shelter during open hours.
