‘Maryland Women’s Business Center Resources and Success Stories’ Will Be Theme as Montgomery County Hosts Business Connections online forum on Friday, Nov. 5

For Immediate Release: Thursday, November 4, 2021

"Maryland Women’s Business Center Resources and Success Stories" will be the theme from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, when Montgomery County’s Business Connections program hosts its latest virtual town hall to keep businesses operators informed on resources to grow their business.

County Executive Marc Elrich initiated a series of town halls held every other Friday to share timely updates on COVID-19 topics of interest to the business community. The town halls have given businesses an opportunity to hear directly from County leaders. As the County moves toward economic recovery, the information programs will focus on County-supported resources for businesses and on businesses who successfully have used them. Judy Costello, the County Executive’s special projects manager, will host this Friday’s session.

During the Nov. 5 program, Ms. Costello will talk with Maryland Women’s Business Center Managing Director Morgan Wortham; Montgomery County Senior Business Counselor Martha Jimenez; and Associate Business Counselor Nestor Gavidia. They will discuss the Center’s business counseling, workshops and seminar programs.

“The Maryland Women’s Business Center is a great resource headquartered in our backyard in Rockville.  They have continued to support small businesses throughout COVID with virtual one-on-on counseling and other programs,” said Ms. Costello. “We look forward to spotlighting these activities and their business clients Friday.”

Business owners Aisha Khadar of Sha’s Creations; Lilit Ghazaryan of Saints Valley; Maria Alejandra Bonilla of Lamimi Boutique; Anny Gonzalez of Makv Montessori Preschool; and Julio Mendoza of Marlene’s Daycare will talk about their businesses and how the Center’s programs and the County’s support have helped them.

Ms. Costello also will share news about upcoming grant opportunities and will address updates on the County COVID-19 status with Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Earl Stoddard and Deputy Health Officer James Bridgers.

If business owners, employees or residents have questions they would like to see addressed during the November 5 program, they can be submitted by chat during Friday’s discussion.
