Public Invited to Dec. 16 Virtual Hearing On Proposed Franklin Avenue Sidewalk Project in Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 8, 2021

On Thursday, Dec. 16 starting at 6:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public hearing on the proposed construction of the Franklin Avenue Sidewalk Project between Colesville Road (US 29) and University Boulevard (MD 193). The public will have an opportunity to provide written and oral testimony.

At the virtual meeting, MCDOT will present the project scope, the conceptual design, project costs, schedules and obtain public feedback. The proposed sidewalk will enhance safety for pedestrians and bicyclists accessing bus stops and nearby destinations.  In addition, this project includes the installation of new curb, gutter and storm drain system.

Online registration is required to attend. On the morning of the hearing, an electronic invitation will be sent to those who registered. Testimony and information provided will become a matter of public record.

Prior to the virtual hearing, the public is encouraged to review the project files posted on the project website.

Written testimony or questions may be submitted to the Project Manager, Robert Gonzales, through this online comment form or by emailing robert.gonzales@montgomerycountymd.gov.  Written testimony carries the same weight as oral testimony. Testimony and information provided will become a matter of public record.

Interpreter services will be provided upon request with five business days advance notice by contacting Robert Gonzales.
