Rockville, Md., Dec. 10, 2021— On Monday, Dec. 13 at 11:30 a.m., newly-elected Montgomery County Council President Gabe Albornoz and Vice President Evan Glass will hold a media availability to discuss the Public Safety Committee’s recent briefing with the Montgomery County Police Department on crime trends in the County, as well as ongoing discussions with Montgomery County Public Schools about efforts to bolster the mental health and well-being of students in our school system.
Council President Albornoz and Vice President Glass will discuss legislation scheduled to be addressed at the next Council session, including the introduction of Bill 49-21 on the Police Accountability Board as submitted by County Executive Elrich, and the scheduled vote on Bill 26-21 about payments in lieu of taxes to promote the development of additional affordable housing. Councilmember Hans Riemer and Andrew Friedson are the lead sponsors of this legislation.
The duo will also talk about the public policy initiatives that they plan to focus on in 2022, including but not limited to providing ongoing support for those still suffering financially from the pandemic, expanding access to health care and ending childhood hunger in Montgomery County.
Montgomery County Health and Human Services Public Health Emergency Preparedness Manager Sean O’Donnell will join the media availability to provide a public health update.
