Public Invited to Virtual Meeting on Phase 2 of the US 29 Mobility and Reliability Study on Thursday, Dec. 16

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, December 14, 2021

On Thursday, Dec. 16, starting at 6:30 p.m., Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public hearing to discuss the additional study of the US 29 corridor to further refine and identify a preferred alternative(s). MCDOT staff and consultants will present the roadway and transit improvements that have been considered to date, the results of the previous study, and additional improvements being considered. MCDOT is seeking public feedback on these improvements.

The goal of the study is to identify improvements on US 29 that complement the investment in the US 29 Flash Bus Line from Burtonsville to the Silver Spring Transit Center. It will also look to improve corridor travel time and increase pedestrian and bicycle access and safety. Previous work has included a review of a bus and high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) concept for US 29, a dedicated median bus lane as well as various pedestrian and bicycle improvements.

Online registration is required to attend. Prior to the virtual meeting, the public is encouraged to review the project files posted on the project website here.

Questions and requests for special accommodations may be submitted to the Project Manager, Corey Pitts, by email at corey.pitts@montgomerycountymd.gov or by phone 240-777-7217.

A recorded version of the presentation will be available after the event at montgomerycountymd.gov/dot-dte/projects/US29Study/index.html.
