Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services to Close Some Stores Early TODAY Due to Weather Concerns

Montgomery County’s Department of Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) will close some of its retail stores early today, Monday, Jan. 3, due to weather concerns. It is expected the stores will resume regular hours on Tuesday, Jan. 4.


 The projected early closings:

  • Montrose Crossing: now closed.
  • Wheaton: closing at 4 p.m.
  • Cabin John: closing at 4 p.m.
  • Cloverly: closing at 4 p.m.
  • Walnut Hill: closing at 4 p.m.
  • Potomac: closing at 6 p.m.
  • Flower Avenue: closing at 6 p.m.
  • Darnestown: closing at 6 p.m.


It is expected that all other stores will remain open until 9 p.m. today. However, customers are encouraged to check the website before visiting a store.

ABS is the alcohol wholesaler of beer, wine, and spirits for Montgomery County and operates 26 retail stores throughout the County. In addition, ABS manages alcohol licensing, enforcement and education for more than 1,000 businesses. Generating more than $30 million in net income annually, its profits are used to pay down County debt with a large portion deposited in the general fund to pay for resident services that would otherwise be funded by County tax dollars.
