Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett this afternoon joined Department of Economic Development (DED) Director Dr. Pradeep Ganguly and DED staff to recognize and celebrate recent County business community award winners and honorees during a luncheon held at DED offices.
Recognized were businesses or individuals that were either “25 CEOs You Need to Know” honorees or “P&B Exceptional 53” winners. Both prestigious honors were bestowed recently by The Gazette of Politics and Business upon a select group chosen from across Maryland. Nearly half of the 25 CEOs were from Montgomery County and 32 of the Exceptional 53 winners were Montgomery County companies. Nearly 30 people attended the luncheon and were congratulated by Leggett, Ganguly and DED staff.
“During these very difficult times of economic uncertainty, we feel it is important to recognize the honors and achievements of Montgomery County’s diverse and resilient business community,” said Leggett. “Among Montgomery County’s most important assets are our businesses and the individuals that successfully start, manage, own and grow those businesses. Despite the negative economy and tough road ahead of us, we must still make time to recognize those that are not only weathering the storm, but are continuing to contribute to the economic vitality of Montgomery County.”
The 25 CEOs were selected from among more than 130 nominations received from throughout the state, with the top 25 chosen based on their ability to effectively execute their business strategy, inspire others to follow their vision and run successful businesses, while also giving back to the community.
DED was a co-sponsor of the newly launched P&B 53 recognition program, which was created by The Gazette to identify and honor companies from across Maryland for their organizational growth, innovation and community service.
“Today’s luncheon was one small way to truly recognize, applaud and celebrate the success and achievements of this very deserving group of companies and individuals who contribute so much to the County’s economy,” said Ganguly. “Another important objective was to hear directly from these companies about what their current and future needs are related to employee training, facility expansion, international trade and more, and to let them know that our Department stands ready with an array of programs and services designed to support their continued growth and success here in Montgomery County.”
