Build Your Own Guide Online Tool Launched

It is time to start thinking about cooler days, pumpkins and fall fun. Registration for Montgomery County Recreation’s fall programs and activities will open Monday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 a.m. Programs and activities are tailored to a variety of interests, skill levels and ages. Fall offerings include aquatics, fitness, sports, visual and performing arts, therapeutic recreation, adult 55+ programming and more.

Online registration will be available at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org, the registration and facility reservation system shared by Montgomery County Recreation, Montgomery Parks and Community Use of Public Facilities. Programs are currently available for viewing only.

Four Community Recreation Centers will open at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, to assist with in-person registration. If you need extra assistance head to Long Branch, North Potomac, Plum Gar, or Wheaton.

New this fall, residents will be able to build their own guide filled with programs tailored to their interests.

The guide tool allows you to create a personalized program guide based on categories, locations, and ages of your interest. To build your guide simply visit https://mocorecguide.com/ and follow these steps:

  1. Select topics that interest you. You may choose from the program categories, organized by topic. You can choose a primary category, which will automatically select all the corresponding secondary categories, or just select individual secondary categories.
  2. Choose locations. Montgomery County Recreation has programming at facilities across the County.
  3. Indicate age range. Select the age ranges that are relevant to you and your family members.
  4. Review your selection and create your guide. Review the categories, locations, and ages you chose during the selection process. When you are done with your review, click the “Create My Guide” button and a downloadable PDF file will be created for you.

There are hundreds of programs available this fall that promote an active, healthier lifestyle. Registration is also available by mail or limited in-person appointments. If you have additional questions about registration, you can also call 240-777-6840.

Montgomery County Recreation is still accepting applications for 2022 RecAssist, which provides eligible County residents an opportunity to receive a scholarship to use toward most programs. County residents who currently receive public assistance from any of these programs are eligible for RecAssist: Temporary Cash Assistance; Supplemental Security Income; Housing Assistance from a Shelter; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program; Maryland Medicaid; Care for Kids; Maryland Energy Assistance; Montgomery County HHS Rental Assistance Program; and WIC.
