Montgomery County Recreation Celebrating the Holiday Season with Festivals, Movie Events and More
For Immediate Release: Monday, November 28, 2022
Montgomery County Recreation is hosting holiday-themed, family-friendly events for everyone to enjoy this winter. From cocoa and crafts to photos with Santa, events will be hosted at community recreation and senior centers across the County throughout December.
Upcoming special events hosted by Montgomery County Recreation include:
Saturday, Dec. 3.
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Bauer Drive Holiday Craft Show at Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center, 14625 Bauer Drive, Rockville. Featuring local and regional artists' original works of art, photography, fabric arts, jewelry, candles, holiday decorations, woodwork and more. Food vendors on site. Free parking.
11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Cocoa and Crafts at Ross Boddy Neighborhood Recreation Center, 18529 Brooke Road, Sandy Spring. Create your own gingerbread house or sugar igloo while enjoying cocoa, treats and other crafts and games.
5 – 7 p.m. Winter Wonderland Paint and Sip at Plum Gar Community Recreation Center, 19561 Scenery Drive, Germantown. Sip on your cocoa while you receive step-by-step instructions in creating a holiday masterpiece! Painting supplies and refreshments will be provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.
Sunday, Dec. 4
1 – 5 p.m. Holiday Craft Show at Clara Barton Neighborhood Recreation Center, 7425 MacArthur Blvd., Cabin John. Featuring handmade crafts, jewelry, paintings, woodcraft and more by 30 local artists.
Tuesday, Dec. 6
1 – 3 p.m. Active Adult Holiday Luncheon at Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center, 4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase. Celebrate the upcoming new year and holiday cheer at the Active Adult Holiday Luncheon. This event will be catered by Manoli Canoli. For residents 55+. Registration must be done in person.
Saturday, Dec. 10
11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Damascus Winter Wonderland at Damascus Community Recreation Center, 25520 Oak Drive, Damascus. Join us for holiday crafts, family games, a featured movie and more.
1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Therapeutic Recreation’s Santa’s Workshop at Holiday Park Senior Center, 2950 Ferrara Drive, Silver Spring. For individuals with disabilities and their families. Visit Santa at the Holiday Park North Pole and make crafts with Santa's elf helpers. Holiday games and treats will be available too!
Friday, Dec. 16
6 – 9 p.m. Santa’s Workshop in Burtonsville at Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center. Enjoy cookie decorating, a hot chocolate bar, delicious s'mores and more! Join us for a movie night featuring "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
Saturday, Dec. 17
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Photo Op & Cocoa with Mr. & Mrs. Claus at Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Recreation Center, 2450 Lyttonsville Road, Silver Spring. We will use YOUR cell phone, so that you will have immediate access to your pictures at no cost! Registration is required.
6 – 9 p.m. Deck the Halls with Spaghetti and Meatballs at Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Center, 14715 Good Hope Road, Silver Spring. Enjoy a free family dinner, arts and crafts, hot cocoa bar and ice skating. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Live entertainment provided by Strathmore.
Wednesday, Dec. 21
2 – 3 p.m. Jingle and Mingle with DJ Chrome at North Potomac Senior Center, 13850 Travilah Road, Rockville. Join us for music, refreshments, dancing and lots of fun! For residents 55 and older.
Saturday, Dec. 31
6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Therapeutic Recreation’s New Year’s Eve Party at Holiday Park Senior Center, 3950 Ferrara Drive, Silver Spring. For individuals ages 15 and up with disabilities. Celebrate the end of 2022 and ring in the new year! Dress in your best party attire. New Year's party favors will be available for everyone. Pre-registration is encouraged.
Registration for events can be completed online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org. Registration for winter programs and activities is also currently underway.
