For Immediate Release: Thursday, January 4, 2024

Montgomery County Recreation is once again hosting safe, fun and exciting camps that promote children's active and healthy lifestyles this summer. Camp registration begins at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16 for County Residents. Non-County residents will be able to register beginning Thursday, Jan. 18.

"I encourage all residents to plan ahead for the summer with Montgomery County Recreation’s variety of exciting camps," said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. "Some of the best memories, experiences, and education come from summer camp activities. Many of our camps fill up quickly and we don’t want anyone to miss out. Recreation camps prioritize affordability, inclusivity, convenience and safety. There is something available for everyone, so make sure to take advantage of what the County has to offer right in your own backyard."

Montgomery County Recreation camps offer a broad range of summer programs located across the County. Campers will spend most their time outdoors with an emphasis on safety and fun.

Programs will become viewable online Friday, Jan. 5. Residents will also be able to view a digital guide and build their own.

Montgomery County Recreation is hosting two free summer camp fairs in January to help families plan for their children’s summer activities. The first will take place on Sunday, Jan. 7 at Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center, located at 13850 Travilah Road in Rockville. East County Community Recreation Center, located at 3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring, will host a fair on Sunday, Jan. 14. Both fairs will take place from 1 – 4 p.m.  Experience camp at the fairs with arts, crafts, games, snacks and more.

Applications are currently being accepted for 2024 Rec Assist, which provides eligible County residents an opportunity to receive a scholarship to use toward Recreation programs. Once approved, eligible residents will receive $400 on their account.

Registration will also be available by mail or drop-off. For more information about registration, visit the website or call the customer service team at 240-777-6840.
