Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Council President Andrew Friedson, Other County Officials and Community Residents to Celebrate Grand Opening of Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center, Saturday, Feb. 24

10 a.m. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 

Noon-4 p.m. Public Grand Opening 

1319 Apple Ave., Silver Spring 


Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Council President Andrew Friedson and Vice President Kate Stewart, Councilmembers Gabe Albornoz and Evan Glass, president of Holy Cross Health Network Annice Cody, representatives from the Housing Opportunities Commission and the County’s departments of General Services and Recreation, will join the grand opening of the Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24.  

The center will feature:  

  • General swimming 
  • Low-level diving 
  • Exercise aquatic play 
  • Training and teaching opportunities 
  • A gymnasium  
  • Fitness space
  • Senior programming  
  • Multipurpose activity rooms 
  • Teaching kitchen  
  • Café  

The center also will be home to the Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame and Holy Cross Health Partners at Elizabeth Square.

WHERE: Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center, 1319 Apple Ave., Silver Spring. Free event parking will be available from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Garage 7 – Cameron St. and Second Ave. Garage, 8530 Cameron St., Silver Spring.
