For Immediate Release: Friday, March 1, 2024
Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) will celebrate their 10 years of service and reduce adoption fees to $10 for new pet owners from March 1—March 10. The event is sponsored by Friends of Montgomery County Animals.
The MCASAC is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood.
"Adopting an animal from our shelter can provide families with years of joy and unconditional love,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “I want to thank the Friends of Montgomery County Animals for sponsoring this event and helping us celebrate 10 years of success and progress in improving the lives of animals in our community. If you are considering adding a pet to your family, please visit our shelter and have our staff help you find a furry friend for your home."
Adoptions are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and no appointment is required. Adoptions are same day. Potential owners should be prepared to take home an animal by bringing a leash and collar for dogs or a carrier for cats and small animals.
Community members can fill the adoption questionnaire here or fill out a copy when they arrive.
More information on the adoption process can be found on the MCASAC website.
Adoptable animals can be viewed here or visit the facility which is open for adoptions seven days a week. Shelter hours vary and can be found on the MCASAC website.
“Reflecting over the last 10 years, I am incredibly proud of how far we have come,” said Spencer Kelly, shelter operations manager. “Thanks to the support of staff, volunteers, fosters, partners and the entire community we have made tremendous strides to better the lives of animals. While we celebrate this milestone with an adoption event, I am looking forward to MCASAC making an even greater impact in our community and further strengthening the human-animal bond over the next 10 years.”
