Montgomery County Recreation is gearing up for another exciting summer of camps designed to keep children active and engaged. Registration for camp programs will begin Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 a.m. for County residents. Non-County residents can register starting Thursday, Jan. 22. 

                   



“Summer camps play a vital role in childhood by creating opportunities for learning, friendship and adventure,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “Montgomery County Recreation has many high-quality, affordable and accessible camps that help kids stay active, discover new interests and enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment. We encourage families to plan ahead and register early, as these programs fill up quickly.” 


Montgomery County Recreation offers a diverse selection of half- and full-day camps across the County, including: 

  • Arts
  • Dance
  • Music
  • Special interests (business and entrepreneurship, cooking, performing arts)
  • Sports (basketball, martial arts, skateboarding, soccer, volleyball)
  • STEAM
  • Teen leadership (Student Service Learning (SSL) opportunities available)
  • Therapeutic recreation 


“Montgomery County Recreation’s summer camps are built on the expertise and dedication of our staff, who work tirelessly to create safe, enriching and fun experiences for every child,” said Recreation Director Gabe Albornoz. “Last summer, we proudly served more than 7,000 campers, and we look forward to continuing to offer camp programs that strengthen our community and support families.”

Applications are now being accepted for 2026 Rec Assist. Montgomery County Recreation’s financial assistance program offers County residents receiving eligible public assistance the opportunity to receive a scholarship of $400 per eligible family member, which can be used toward the cost of Recreation programs. 


Families can register for camps online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org. In-person assistance will be available at Recreation’s administrative office (2425 Reedie Drive, 10th Floor, Wheaton) starting at 6:30 a.m. on registration day. You will also be able to call the customer service team at 240-777-6840.
