Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and County Council President Blair G. Ewing will kick off Arab American Heritage Month on Wednesday, April 18 with the opening of an art exhibit sponsored by the Muslim Women in the Arts and the Committee for Arab-American Heritage Month. The ceremony, which will include a reception and musical entertainment, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the lobby auditorium of the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street in Rockville.
The featured keynote speakers will be Elham-Eid Alldredge, Ph.D., a native of Palestine who grew up in Lebanon and moved to the U.S. in 1974; and Aref Dajani, the son of a Palestinian refugee. Duncan and Ewing will present a joint proclamation, proclaiming April as Arab American Heritage Month in Montgomery County.
