Rockville-based Caelum Research Corporation today celebrated the opening of its new location in the heart of Montgomery County's I-270 Technology Corridor. Founded in 1987, Caelum is an information technology company engaged in research and development, technology transfer, and commercialization for a number of applied science fields.

"Caelum's success is a tribute to the company's expertise and hard work," said Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan. "I am delighted that this outstanding minority-owned firm has chosen Montgomery County to grow its successful technology services for health care researchers nationwide."

With 65 employees in Montgomery County and 75 in several regional offices, Caelum specializes in health science and space science. Its customers include the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health, the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

"High standards of performance and responsiveness have helped our company develop a strong customer base," said Caelum's President and CEO, H. Michael Yeh, Ph.D. "Our headquarters location in Montgomery County provides excellent access to the nation's leading health and science organizations."

Caelum expects to add approximately 90 new jobs in the next three years, expanding its services in applied sciences, advanced information technology, computer and communication support, and health sciences and records management.
