Victim Identified in Aspen Hill Shooting

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide/Sex Section are continuing to investigate a shooting death that occurred yesterday afternoon in Aspen Hill.  Detectives are investigating this death as a homicide.

Early this morning, detectives charged the two suspects involved in this incident.  The suspects are identified as Christopher Edwards, age 20, of the 13200 block of Superior Street in Rockville and Andrew Ramos, age 19, of no fixed address.  Edwards was charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of reckless endangerment and is currently being held without bond.  Ramos was charged with one count of reckless endangerment and is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.  Both have a bond review hearing scheduled for Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Rockville District Court.

It was on March 7 at approximately 3:20 p.m. that 4th District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a residence in the 13200 block of Superior Street for a report of a shooting.  Upon arriving, officers discovered a young adult male deceased as a result of a gunshot wound.

The male victim has been identified as Hugo Yupe, age 21, of the 12000 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville.

Investigation revealed that Edwards, Ramos, and Yupe were present inside the residence when the shooting occurred.  For reasons still under investigation, Yupe was shot.  After the shooting, Ramos left the scene, and Edwards remained in the residence and summoned assistance.  Ramos was located and taken into custody.
