On April 8, 2012 at approximately 11:42 p.m., police responded to a residence in the 8500 block of Victory Lane, Potomac, for the report of a shooting.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 21-year-old male (victim) answered the door and was confronted by a black male suspect. A struggle ensued and during that struggle the victim was shot by the suspect. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives spoke with the victim on April 9 and now believe that the victim was targeted and that this shooting was not a random event.

Previously, MCPD reported that detectives were attempting to determine if entry was made into the home. Detectives have now determined that there was a struggle at the door that continued into the home.
