Arrest Made in Victory Lane Shooting

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Robbery Section have been investigating a shooting that occurred in Potomac on April 8 and have now arrested a suspect in this incident.

DeAngelo Jackson, age 19, of the 19500 block of Jerusalem Church Terrace in Poolesville was arrested on April 14 and charged with attempted first degree murder and several related charges.

It was on April 8 at approximately 11:42 p.m. that 1st District officers responded to a residence in the 8500 block of Victory Lane for a report of a shooting.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the 21-year-old male victim and his roommate were inside the residence when the doorbell ran.  The victim answered the door and was confronted by Jackson who was armed with a handgun.  The victim attempted to close the door, but Jackson pushed through the door into the residence.  Once inside the residence, Jackson shot the victim and fled the scene.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Based on the above, an arrest warrant was obtained for Jackson.  The warrant was served without incident at Jackson’s residence on April 14th.  Jackson was charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault, and several firearms-related charges and is currently being held without bond.  He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 11 at 10:00 a.m.
