Police Seek Witness in December White Oak Homicide, $10,000 Crime Solvers Award

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide/Sex Section are continuing to investigate the homicide of Franklin Ikechukwu Amobi, age 24, of the 11200 block of Columbia Pike inSilver Spring. 

It was on December 27, 2011 at  approximately 6:39 a.m.that police received several complaints for the sound of gunshots in the area of the 11400 block of Stewart Lane.  At approximately 6:48 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the same area for a report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arriving, officers discovered Amobi suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso.  There was evidence of a firearm being discharged at the scene.

During further investigation, detectives received information that there may have been a witness to this homicide, though only a limited description of this witness has been obtained.  The witness is described only as an older, Hispanic woman.  It is believed that the witness boarded a Metrobus a short time after the homicide occurred.  The bus is known to be a Metrobus traveling the Z8 Fairland Line, and the bus stop for this Metrobus is located at11412 Stewart LaneinSilver Spring.  The witness would have boarded the bus onDecember 27, 2011shortly after6:37 a.m.   Police are urging this witness to come forward to provide additional information regarding Amobi’s homicide.

In addition, Amobi’s family has worked in conjunction with Crime Solvers to increase the reward to $10,000 for information regarding this homicide.
